This afternoon Conan O’Brien released a statement regarding his future as host of the ‘Tonight Show’ and NBC moving Jay Leno back into the 11:35PM time slot, which would cause Conan to begin the ‘Tonight Show’ at 12:05AM. He noted that he would not follow Leno out of respect for the ‘Tonight Show’ brand and for Jimmy Fallon.

Below is Conan O’Brien’s official statement.

People of Earth

In the last few days, I've been getting a lot of sympathy calls, and I want to start by making it clear that no one should waste a second feeling sorry for me. For 17 years, I've been getting paid to do what I love most and, in a world with real problems, I've been absurdly lucky. That said, I've been suddenly put in a very public predicament and my bosses are demanding an immediate decision.

Six years ago, I signed a contract with NBC to take over The Tonight Show in June of 2009. Like a lot of us, I grew up watching Johnny Carson every night and the chance to one day sit in that chair has meant everything to me. I worked long and hard to get that opportunity, passed up far more lucrative offers, and since 2004 I have spent literally hundreds of hours thinking of ways to extend the franchise long into the future. It was my mistaken belief that, like my predecessor, I would have the benefit of some time and, just as important, some degree of ratings support from the prime-time schedule. Building a lasting audience at 11:30 is impossible without both.

But sadly, we were never given that chance. After only seven months, with my Tonight Show in its infancy, NBC has decided to react to their terrible difficulties in prime-time by making a change in their long-established late night schedule.

Last Thursday, NBC executives told me they intended to move the Tonight Show to 12:05 to accommodate the Jay Leno Show at 11:35. For 60 years the Tonight Show has aired immediately following the late local news. I sincerely believe that delaying the Tonight Show into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting. The Tonight Show at 12:05 simply isn't the Tonight Show. Also, if I accept this move I will be knocking the Late Night show, which I inherited from David Letterman and passed on to Jimmy Fallon, out of its long-held time slot. That would hurt the other NBC franchise that I love, and it would be unfair to Jimmy.

So it has come to this: I cannot express in words how much I enjoy hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is for me to consider losing it. My staff and I have worked unbelievably hard and we are very proud of our contribution to the legacy of The Tonight Show. But I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction. Some people will make the argument that with DVRs and the Internet a time slot doesn't matter. But with the Tonight Show, I believe nothing could matter more.

There has been speculation about my going to another network but, to set the record straight, I currently have no other offer and honestly have no idea what happens next. My hope is that NBC and I can resolve this quickly so that my staff, crew, and I can do a show we can be proud of, for a company that values our work.

AND THE EMMY GOES TO . . . .

The 61st Annual Emmy Awards aired on CBS last night and got a nice “shot in the arm” with the multi-talented, extremely funny host; Neil Patrick Harris. The actor of the CBS show ‘How I Met Your Mother’ kicked off the night with a show tune like introduction; taking a page out of the Billy Crystal play book. The young man never looked back as he made his peers and millions of viewers at home laugh throughout the night. He even received praises or his duties from John Daily and Jeff Probst.

The big winner of the night without a question was ‘30 Rock’. The show one for ‘Best Comedy’ among many others awards they took home and saw star and creator Tina Fey walk away with multiple Emmys, and deservingly so! She was always funny on SNL but this young woman has got Hollywood “by the horns” and is not letting go anytime soon. This was the third consecutive Emmy win for ’30 Rock’.

Mad Men capped off the show by taking home the award for ‘Best Drama’. For many critics who thought last year’s win was a fluke, this was the so-called duct tape being placed securely on their mouths!

Hopefully, Neil Patrick Harris will be back to fill the shoes as host for 62nd installment of the Emmys!

MADONNA = BAD NEIGHBOUR?

If Madonna were your neighbour, you wouldn’t think you would have that many problems to deal with, would you?

Well, think again!

Neighbours of “the material girl” have been complaining about excessive noise at numerous points throughout the day. Some tenants of the condo where Madge is living have said that they have heard loud stomping and music for up to three hours at a time!

It turns out that the tenant boards has warned Madonna on numerous occasions regarding the excessive noise and have noted that they have no problem kicking her out of the condo! Time will tell if Madonna will have to look for another place to live, which in point would not be difficult for her.

What we’re wondering is; why would she have dance sessions in her house? You would think that with all the money she has, she would have no problem renting out a dance studio somewhere in New York City!

In her defense, maybe she’s having trouble finding one? Please, sense the sarcasm!

ELVIS’ HAIR SELLS @ AUCTION

Elvis continues to make money from beyond the grave!

Recently a lock of Elvis’ hair was sold at an auction in Chicago for a whopping $18,300! The hair is believed to be from the now historic moment of when “The King” got his hair chopped off while enrolling in the army.

I am an Elvis fan. I have been for some time now. It’s amazing how his music has captivated so many people around the world, but who would drop that kind of coinage for a lock of Elvis’ hair?

Other items sold at the auction in Chicago included; an ultra suede shirt for a whopping $34,000, two scarves worn by “The King” during a performance for $ 2, 318 and pictures from Elvis and Priscilla’s wedding and bridal shower went for $6,000.

The auction house has not named the buyers as of yet.

The items belonged to the late Gary Pepper, Elvis’ friend and former president of The Elvis Fan Club, who passed away in 1980.

Both of these costumes were very well done and we were looking for a costume more along the lines of something that was home made. Anyone can go out and buy a costume and look good, but when you make your costume from scratch, it makes the finished product look that much better!

JOSS STONED?

UK singer Joss Stone who rose to fame with her hit song “You Had Me” admitted this week to smoking marijuana.

Joss admitted that she smokes the “green stuff” and that she doesn’t think it’s bad to do so. She had noted that she doesn’t believe marijuana is a drug and that’s it’s more of an herb.

She also compared smoking pot to a glass of wine.

We only have one question: “What the hell kind of wine are you drinking??”

Regardless she hasn’t had a big musical impact on the general public for quite some time and by the time this blurb is posted, we are sure that no one will even care or remember - right Joss?

Hollywood is “buzzing” right now due to the fact of a major and epic announcement! Okay, well it’s really not that big of a deal - considering what your priorities are in life and if you are a “tween” obsessed with characters from scripted reality shows.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, better known to MTV viewers of The Hills as “Speidi” have released a book. No this isn’t a biography, or an in depth novel of life as a star on The Hills. It is a book in fact, which gives readers insight on how to be famous. The book is called: “How to be Famous”.

REALLY??

Is it just I, or am I the only one on this planet that would rather take advise on how to get famous from Screech on Saved by the Bell?

I’m sure the book is packed with intense and realistic scenarios that the everyday common person can follow to become famous. The scary thing about this whole book is that there are people out there who will buy it.

OPRAH CALLS IT QUITS

Oprah Winfrey announced on her wildly popular show this past Friday, November 20th, 2009 that the next season of The Oprah Show would indeed be her last. The last show will air on September 9, 2011. Oprah promised her viewers that the upcoming last season would be the biggest yet!

Maybe she’ll bring back Oprah’s Favourite Things?

Oprah fans shouldn’t worry. Just because she is ending her daily daytime talk show, doesn’t mean that she won’t be on television. Rumour has it that she will be starting The Oprah Network! Plus, with popular spin offs which have gotten the blessing from Harpo Studios; including The Rachel Ray Show, Dr. Phil, and the insanely popular Dr. Oz Show, you bet she will be around using her star power for good, as she has in the past.

It was announced today that singer Taylor Swift, will be writing greeting cards! Looks like there’s another feather in her cap! Along with singing, this pop teen sensation can also act, and now she’s penning Greeting Cards.

The songstress inked a deal with American Greetings Corp. to design a line of greeting cards , stationary, gift packaging, online photo personalization products and online greetings (you know, the ones you can email to your friends and family members?).

It was noted that Swift would be releasing cards to match her personality and to tell her stories. I can see all of the “You Belong To Me” cards as of now circulating across North America on Valentines Day. Can’t you?

Have We Curbed Our Enthusiasm for the Last Time?

This past Sunday saw what could be the end of Curb Your Enthusiasm. As fans of Larry David already know, the co-creator of Seinfeld and star of Curb Your Enthusiasm likes to keep everything low key – concerning story lines, future episodes and of course future seasons of the show.

The only exception of a big build up for Curb was for this past season (Season 7). That was justifiable though, as it saw the cast of Seinfeld reuniting on the show. Entertainment Magazines, shows, gossip columnists and bloggers such as myself were excitedly telling everybody about this amazing event! Not only did die hard fans of Seinfeld and Curb tune in this season to see the Seinfeld gang on multiple episodes of the show, but casual fans if Seinfeld that might not even had known about Curb Your Enthusiasm tuned in to see the reunion of the “Fab Four”.

The tenth and final episode of Season 7 saw the actual finished product of the reunion show air on TV – in “Curb Land” of course as the reunion was a mock for the show. It couldn’t have ended in a better way. All of the main and supporting characters seemed to have wrapped up nicely. Again, this is going back to the point that Larry is never sure if he will be back for another season. Fans tuned in to see the Seinfeld Reunion and mock show air along with Larry successfully getting back together with his ex-wife Sheryl. As soon as everything seemed to be going well and a romantic tide between Larry and Sheryl was about to turn, Larry decides to get into an argument of sorts with Sheryl. He even calls a friend to back up his story to prove his point, as Sheryl sits on the couch annoyed.

For this Curb Fan, everything came around full circle. Even though this season did seem larger than life and was on a much bigger scale than previous seasons of the show, it still stayed true to it’s story lines and insanely funny characters as only Curb can.

I hope there is a Season Eight of Curb in the works, but if Larry decides not to do a season eight, fans will have a sense of comfort knowing that the characters they have come to know and love will continue to be themselves and have the same problems and experiences down the road.

True Blood: Season 3 Confirmed!

It has been confirmed that the cult hit show True Blood will be back for a third season! Fans of the show, known as ‘Trubies’ have been behind the show since day one! With the intense and dramatic story lines and an on going war between vampires and human’s, season three looks like it can be the shows best season to date!

The series has announced that the cast will in fact expand come season three’s debut in the summer of 2010. The cast will include Prison Break’s own Marshall Allman. He will be playing Tommy Mickens, Sam Merlotte’s (Sam Trammell) long-lost younger brother who works at a Tire Depot in Arkansas. More dog-human morphing! SWEET!

The only down side to the announcement is that fans will have to wait until June 2010 for the third season! That’s a hell of a long time, but fans can catch up and relive all the True Blood intensity with Season 1 on DVD and soon to be (probably before Christmas) Season 2.

All in all, this will create a longer life for the series and fans are not complaining about that one bit.

NIKE WAITING ON TIGER

Earlier this week after Tiger Woods announced his indefinite break from the world of professional golf, his biggest sponsor (and as of now, only supporter) was already talking about his soon to be triumphant return.

TMZ spoke with a rep from Nike, who said: “Tiger has been a part of Nike for more than a decade. He is the best golfer in the world and one of the greatest athletes of his era. We look forward to his return to golf. He and his family have Nike’s full support.”

If you think about it, other sponsors like Gillette are quickly turning their backs on Tiger and pulling his commercials from TV world wide while Nike is being loyal to their human, breathing, walking, talking billboard! Nike is doing the right thing, because as soon as Tiger comes back to the world of Golf, every eye in the sports world will be watching him and will be noticing that world known swoosh symbol proudly displayed on his clothing.

I can hear cash registers all over the world ringing as I type!

For Nike, that’s not a bad thing, it’s a good thing!

Time to usher in a New Year!

Does that mean a brand new you? Many common New Year’s resolutions include working out more and to quit smoking. These are great resolutions to have, but these really big ones are harder to achieve.

Instead, why not think of goals, which are more attainable? For example, take the stairs instead of an escalator. If you’re a fast food junky, try minimizing your intake and eating more greens or food with higher water content (i.e.: veggies and salads with your meat). Although these ideas seem simple, many people try to have their New Year’s resolution complete by the end of January!

Remember, take things in stride and your goal will be easier to attain. If you try your hand too quickly at your resolution, you might fail miserably and get discouraged.

You know what happens then? By the time spring comes along you forget your goals and what you wanted to achieve soon becomes a distant memory.

When Conan O’Brien took over the helm of The Tonight Show from long time host Jay Leno in mid 2009, no one could have ever imagined that the former host would be returning to his old time slot causing O’Brien to possibly moving his show back by a half hour time period.

NBC have announced that The Jay Leno Show would soon be airing on NBC weeknights starting at 11:30pm instead of the 10:00pm slot, which the show has occupied since its debut. It is said that people in the Conan camp are understandably upset, as the network did not give them any notice or warning before hand of the time shift. NBC has given Conan the choice of airing his show starting from midnight until 1am, which will bump the show back by a half hour to make room for the new revised thirty minute Jay Leno Show or to pull out of The Tonight Show all together.

Is this how the network treats one of their biggest stars? Let’s face it, Thursday night is no longer ‘Must See TV’ night on NBC as shows like Seinfeld, Friends and ER are no longer on the air. To me, NBC is looking for a quick fix for their ratings struggles and are hoping that moving Jay Leno back to his original time slot when he was host of The Tonight Show, will garner a ratings success story.

Does NBC not remember how low the ratings were when Leno took over The Tonight Show for Johnny Carson in the early nineties? This is a growing process for the network and for Conan to establish a broader fan base. Conan still has die-hard fans, which followed his move from New York to Los Angeles, but many sketches, which appealed to the younger college demographic, had to be pulled or tweaked in the new earlier time slot. Regardless his sense of humour and uncanny knack of joke telling have remained solid even with such a big transition.

The question is will Conan stay put with NBC and embrace the time change or will the funny man possibly take his show to another network? For NBC’s sake, I hope he remains with the network because let’s face it, he is the shining star of a dimly lit sky.

SIMON WANTS PAULA!

First it was Paula Abdul now, it’s Simon Cowell. The aptly titled “mean judge” has revealed that this coming season will be his last as a judge on the hit reality show; American Idol.

It turns out he will be leaving the show, but will still be seen on TV as he will be bringing his popular UK based reality TV show across the pond into the Untied States – The X-Factor and he wants Paula to join him on the show. I guess it pays to be friends with Simon Cowell. You lose a job and in just under a year, you get a new one!

This is no ordinary job. Paula will be joining Simon as a judge on the show. That is if she accepts Simon’s 4.5 million dollar offer. Who are we kidding? Of course she’ll accept it! We can’t speak for her but we can make obvious and sarcastic observations!

With Simon now leaving Idol after this season, look for the show to slowly be fazed out. Especially, if there’ll be a new reality/talent based competition show on TV with the two most popular stars on Idol, which were the reason for all the ratings success! C’mon, you didn’t actually think people tuned in to the show week after week to see the performances did you?

The comedy hit of 2009 has seen success at the box office earning a total of $467 million world wide and is now the #1 selling comedy DVD of all time with combined consumer and rental sales topping 8.6 million units with 1.5 million coming from Blu-Ray purchases.

The success has not gone un-noticed as the movie has garnered a Golden Globe Nomination for Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical and AFI(American Film Institute) has named it one of the top ten movies of the year!

TOBY MAGUIRE IS SPIDER-MAN NO MORE

1World1Man.com has learned that Tobey Maguire – the actor who plays Peter Parker and the web slinging Spider-Man in the Spider-Man franchise will not be returning for the 4th installment. To make matters worse director Sam Raimi had a dispute over the film with Sony execs and will not be back to further tell the story of everyone’s friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

The fourth installment of the Spider-Man movies will see a young Peter Parker as he returns back to his high-school days. This will definitely breathe new life into the film considering the very long, mildly entertaining Spider-Man 3. This could be a good thing for fans of the web slinger. Creating movies as a prequel has certainly done wonders for the Star Trek franchise! Plus, when you go back and make a movie, which depicts the earlier lives of characters it captures the audience’s interest and creates longevity for years to come. Just look at what Christopher Nolan was able to do with the Batman franchise!

Whoever is cast in the new Spider-Man 4 movie as actors and whoever takes over the reigns as director, let’s hope that they do what’s right for the fans of the comic books! Changing the main character can either make or break a movie. The audience has to believe the actor portraying the super hero. If they don’t, things can go down hill in a hurry! Just look at what happened when Val Kilmer stepped in as the Caped Crusader in Batman Forever.

You can bet that Leno is doing it to take the heat off of him for taking back his ‘Tonight Show’ and is solely pointing the finger at NBC. Conan on the other hand is brilliantly backhanding his soon to be ex-employer right in the face!

Would you ever tattoo something that you loved so much on a part of your body? Now, I’m not talking about a memorial tattoo or a portrait of a loved one, I’m talking about a materialistic item. I’m sorry; did you just say “No”? Well that just shows how realistic and levelheaded you are – and that’s a good thing!

The young man in the video above loved his pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers so much that he decided to get them tattooed on his face! Now, don’t get me wrong - I love my Wayfarers too. I have a pair of sunglasses and prescription in the iconic sunglass style, but I would never tattoo them on my face! That’s the beauty about wearing glasses – you can take them off and change your look with different styles whenever you want. This guy will forever be branded. Oh well, at least he seems happy about it!

In my opinion, the funniest man in Late Night Television history said goodbye to his fans around the world as host of The Tonight Show on January 22, 2010. There's no doubt that Conan will be back making his fans laugh with outrageous sketches and hilarious jokes in the very near future!

iPAD REVEALED

Today Apple unveiled the newest member of its rapidly growing family: the iPad. Picture the iPod Touch on steroids and that’s what you get. The device has all the same features as the Touch including email, web browsing and photo sharing just to name a few. The one element that the new iPad has which no product in the Apple family does is the new eBook reader, which is properly named iBook. This allows the user to read their favourite books in electronic format and also allows them to purchase books from the new iBook Store directly from the device.

This launch has been expected for months now and I believe for the first time ever, Apple has some damage control on their hands. Sure this product looks sleek and is simple to use but will people who have iPhones and MacBooks run out to buy the new tablet from Apple? Only time will tell, as the iPad is set for release in 3 months time in the U.S and a projected release date for summer 2010 in Canada.

Apple is hoping that the iPad will have the same call to action response from the public as the iPhone did. I hope Apple doesn’t hold their breath for too long.

Before you judge too quickly, there will also be a French maid on hand watching the toilets and making sure that everything goes smoothly. If you are planning to visit the restaurant, it should be noted that the customers must bring their own condoms.

Wow! Nothing says romance like food and fooling around in a public washroom. One question though. If someone is actually going to the washroom while you and your partner are “hot and heavy” in the next stall, wouldn’t that just slightly ruin the experience?

It’s no surprise to anyone reading this that I am a HUGE Jennifer Aniston fan! Well, not so much her movies (they typically lean towards the female population). However, I am a fan of her rockin’ body!

The always gracious Jen and forever America’s Sweetheart was snapped by TMZ photographers while on vacation and we are thanking them for having a set of terrific eyes!

The now 41-year-old Aniston makes getting older a good thing! She is known for being a very healthy and active person and her body proves it!

As the Aussie’s would say; “Good on ya!”

It turns out the hottest pop singer in the world is actually homeless!

Lady Gaga had admitted to spending a vast majority of her money that she has made to date to fund her elaborate costumes and concerts and does not have her own house.

One could argue that this is just not practical. On the other hand, she is traveling and performing around the world on a daily basis. The “pro” on this is that at least she is highly involved with her passion and puts all her money into her craft.

If you like her or you hate her, you have to admit, that is pretty damn respectable.
